New films test if Land of Oz still paved with gold

Image
London: Not every project based on the American author's adventures in Oz has been a hit - even with Michael Jackson as Scarecrow, the 1978 adaptation 'The Wiz' suffered poor reviews. But the award-winning, record-breaking musical 'Wicked', now in its 10th year, may have emboldened studios to revisit one of the world's most popular and lucrative fantasy properties. "I don't think we're in danger of tiring of Oz," said Rhidian Davis, program manager at the British Film Institute, which is hosting a big retrospective of Oz-related cinema running at its Southbank home in London from March 1-14. "One of the reasons for this success is the way in which children come to power, children topple adult figures in their world - Dorothy dispatches the Wicked Witch with a bucket of water," he said of the lasting Oz phenomenon. "It's terrifically empowering in a way for children to think you can change things." The first

~~ Demi Moore finally files for divorce ~~

Image
New York: Demi Moore is finally filing divorce papers, 16 months after splitting up with Ashton Kutcher. According to an insider, she's tired of trying to reach a confidential settlement with Kutcher, and that the couple's divorce could go to a trial, the New York Post reported. "Ashton made a lot of money after marrying Demi - a lot more than she made - but despite him becoming just as famous through her, he believes he doesn't owe her that much," the source said adding that the actress has had enough. Moore's lawyers could file paperwork in Los Angeles. Kutcher filed divorce papers in December, a year after the couple split, but this would be the first time Moore responds. She'd been hoping to quietly negotiate a settlement and then file the papers once an agreement was reached. But negotiations got bogged down, and Kutcher has been very difficult during the talks, the insider said. "After over a year of attempting to reach a settlement, Demi is

Pitt and Jolie partnered with the Perrin family of vintners to create and market the 100,000 bottles of rosé wine that will be sold to independent wine stores and restaurants. Bold gets bolder, Bollywood erotica goes 3D

Image
Mumbai: If lip-locking and lovemaking were not enough, filmmakers are now getting bolder by shooting erotica in 3D. 'Kamasutra 3D' and 'Jism 3' would help you get that experience. When a movie is shot with 3D, the images have three-dimensional form or appearance and the viewers tasted that with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer superhero sci-fi movie 'RA.One' and Vikram Bhatt-directed horror thriller 'Haunted 3D'. After wooing movie buffs with sci-fi and horror films in 3D, filmmakers have taken a daring step by planning erotica in 3D formats perhaps to get more footfalls and better turnover at the box office. An experienced Anubhav Sinha, who had directed 'RA.One', says his next will be an erotica in 3D. "The erotic thriller will be my official tribute to Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt...my film will be shot in 3D," said the filmmaker who has roped in Maqbool Khan, of 'Kabootar' fame," to direct the film. The shooting wi
