Celebrities at Jagran Film Festival closing ceremony

Legendary Bollywood actor Manoj Kumar was conferred with the Lifetime Achievement award while industry veteran Sridevi bagged the Best Actress honour at the closing ceremony of the 4th Jagran Film Festival in Mumbai. The special jury award was presented to 'Vishwaroopam' for raising the bar of mainstream Indian cinema to international level. The award for the Best Director and Film was given to Abhishek Kapoor for 'Kai Po Che'. Best actress award was given to Sridevi for her comeback film 'English Vinglish'. The Best Actor award was shared by Farhan Akhtar ('Bhaag Milkha Bhaag') and Ranbir Kapoor ('Barfi'). The Best Debut Director award was given to Anand Gandhi for 'Ship of Theseus'. ~~ 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' ~~

'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' is a biopic on legendary Indian athlete Milkha Singh. 'When Rakeysh narrated me the script in 25 minutes, I was blown away with this man's life story. I wanted to re-tell his story to the audience. The national pride should be brought back in youth by making this film and that was my idea,' says Farhan Akhtar. Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the film stars Farhan Akhtar, Sonam Kapoor, Rebecca Breeds, Dalip Tahil, Prakash Raj, Pawan Malhotra and Divya Dutta. ~~ 'Fukrey' success bash ~~

 At the success bash of 'Fukrey', actor Ali Fazal hinted about a sequel to the Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's small-budget production venture. When asked where does he see the celebrations going, Fazal said: 'I think till 'Fukrey 2'.' 'Well, not right now but the demand is such that we will have to make a second part. People are asking us for more,' he added. Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, 'Fukrey' also stars Manjot Singh, Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Priya Anand, Richa Chadda and Vishakha Singh. 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' audio launch

 Former athlete Milkha Singh launched the music of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', saying he hoped that the film inspires the youth of today to take part in the Olympics and win laurels for their country. "The coming generation does not know about Milkha Singh. I hope that they see this movie and get inspired to take part in the Olympics and make their country proud," he said at the launch. He also revealed that he was approached by three to four directors to make a film on his life story. "Three to four directors approached me saying that they wanted to make a film on my story. My son was there when Rakeysh-ji (Omprakash Mehra) came and he decided that I should make it with him," he said. Produced and directed by Mehra, 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' is based on the real life struggle of the former athlete. The film stars Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor and is all set to release on July 12. ~~ Launch of "Karle Jugaad" ~~

Singer Kailash Kher has lent his voice for the song, which is composed by Ram Sampath in modern rock style qawwali. Farhan, who has roped in young actors in 'Fukrey', said all the filmmakers have to do 'jugaad' for casting. "In the whole film industry, all the producers and all the directors have to do 'jugaad' for casting. Nothing can happen without that," he said at the song launch of his upcoming co-production. Keeping up with the ongoing trend of promotions, the makers of 'Fukrey' launched its new song in a unique way by picking five innovative Jugaadu's from the country. MARD: Farhan Akhtar Is A Man On A Mission

MUMBAI: Farhan Akhtar seems to be going the whole hog to promote his social awareness campaign, ‘MARD’ i.e. Men Against Rape and Discrimination. Farhan was seen last night on the TV show Extraaa Innings IPL T20 to further his cause. With the trademark ‘MARD’ moustache firmly in place, the handsome, socially-aware actor-director was seen discussing the urgent need to sensitise men, and teach them to respect women, an objective he aims to achieve with his campaign. Farhan spoke to cricketing legends Sunil Gavaskar and Ajay Jadeja about his tie-up with IPL, where he will be distributing 70,000 mustaches on the 26 April match between Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders and Preity Zinta’s Kings XI Punjab to spread his message. Akhtar is a man on a mission to spread awareness about gender inequality and rape through the active use of social media. She's also teaming up with Ayushmann Khurana in YRF's next to be directed by Nupur Asthana. She will also be seen opposite Tamil actor Dhanush in Ranjhana.
