 Philippines beauty Megan Young was Saturday crowned Miss World 2013 after beating 130 contestants across the globe. This is the first time Miss Philippines has been awarded the Miss World title. Megan, 23, who is a student of filmmaking, is excited to have taken over the crown from 2012's Miss World winner Wenxia Yu of China. "I have no words to express my feelings. Thank you so much to everyone for choosing me to be the next Miss World. It means a lot to me and I promise to be the best person. I am very very excited," she said after the crowning. Megan was born in US before moving to the Philippines when she was 10 Megan and has ambitions of moving behind the camera in the future, taking the role of director after gaining experience and finishing her studies. New Delhi: Draping a sari is an art which is also time consuming, but donning designer duo Ankur and Priyanka Modi's concept nine-yard could be fun for anyone. Ankur and Priyanka have been known for creating easy to wear ensembles and their label AM:PM is keenly focused on wearability, comfort and style. They carry it forward with the concept saris. "Conceptualised around the label's signature, the saris have been 'pre-draped', making them formal and exotic yet drastically minimizing the time to individually drape and wear them," the designers said in a joint statement. Fabrics like satin-georgettes and crepe de chine have been used to give saris fluidity. The duo have teamed up their saris with waistcoat and jacket style blouses which can also be worn with palazzo pants and multi- layered skirts. For jackets and waistcoats, the designers have used elaborate prints and artwork.

A Miss World pageant is incomplete without a catwalk, and so 127 beauty queens took turns to strut their stuff in the 'Top Model' round. The gorgeous contestants took to the stage wearing elaborate gowns by elite Indonesian designers.  After conquering the realms of politics to business to sports, the growing influential Indian American community added a crown jewel to their glory with Nina Davuluri winning the Miss America title for the first time. "I'm so proud to be the first Indian Miss America," the 24-year-old Miss New York and an aspiring physician told reporters Sunday night shortly after defeating 52 other contestants from all the 50 states, capital city of Washington, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico here. "We are making history right here as Asian-Americans," said Davuluri after last year's winner, Mallory Hagan, another former Miss New York, crowned her successor. Top models sashyed down the runway in bikinis and night wear at Miss Maxim 2014 fashion show in Mumbai. Dressed in pastel greens, blues, creams along with mirror works, they set the ramp on fire. The wide range of fabrics included textured raw silk, and georgette in various new silhouettes.  The Miss World beauty pageant has shelved what some people (less evolved than us, obviously) might have considered the only reason for its existence. The organisers will dispense with the pageant’s bikini round this year, out of respect for their Indonesian hosts.

The "controversial" bikini round has been dropped from the 63rd Miss World pageant. However, the organisers have settled for a lesser but visually appealing round - Beach Fashion - which had the contestants sashay by the pool in pretty vibrant sarongs. As many as 130 contestants from 130 countries strutted their stuff in sexy sarongs. Femina Miss World India 2013 Navneet Kaur Dhillon wore a pretty box-print sarong which accentuated her contours. The 63rd edition of Miss World began amid tight security on the Indonesian resort island of Bali after days of Muslim hardline protests that forced the venue for the beauty pageant to be moved. As many as 131 contestants from different countries, competing for the coveted title, put up their traditional dance performances at the glittering opening ceremony in Nusa Dua on Sunday. Though the bikini wear round has been dropped from this year's pageant, contestants will be seen sporting sarongs for the beach beauty round. Designer Manish Malhotra presented a vibrant festive and pre-bridal collection on day one of Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013. The collection, called 'Reflections' displayed a gorgeous synergy of Indian traditions, cultures, rituals and colour spectrum for the fusion line.
