Many of us spend hours clicking through YouTube watching the latest music videos, so it makes sense that the first ever YouTube Music Awards were streamed exclusively online on the popular video site. The winners of the awards were voted for by YouTube users and the New York ceremony was attended by the likes of Lady Gaga and Vanessa Hudgens. The show was hosted by the actor Jason Schwartzman and performance artist Reggie Watts, who were only given a small number of bullet points about the awards by the ceremony's creative director Spike Jonze.
