More than three decades after it was first released, Sai Paranjpe's cult classic 'Chashme Buddoor' will woo Indian audiences again on April 5, the same day its modern-day remake opens in cinemas. Part of Indian pop culture since 1981, director Paranjpe's brand of satirical comedy in the film has found many fans over the years. 'Chashme Buddoor' stars Farooq Sheikh, Ravi Baswani and Rakesh Bedi as three friends whose hare-brained scheme backfires. Female lead Deepti Naval's detergent-selling ‘Miss Chamko' has been often referenced by movie aficionados. "Earlier we had decided to release it one week ahead and then decided to do it on the same day because the buzz will be maximum during that time," said Shiladitya Bora, head of Director's Rare, an alternative programming wing of the PVR multiplex chain. For the audio launch of David Dhawan's 'Chashme Baddoor', a shopping mall in Mumbai was recreated into a Goa cafe. "Since the film is set in Goa, where Rishi Kapoor owns a cafe, we thought why not do an audio launch in a similar kind of theme...get Goa to Mumbai," Dhawan said in a statement. "I don't think so anyone has done an audio launch like this, where the audiences in the mall can also be a part of this! 'Chashme Baddoor' is a youth film, it's going to be colourful with lots of songs, performances and much more!! So wait and watch," he added. Directed by Dhawan and produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, 'Chashme Baddoor' stars Ali Zafar, Siddharth, Divyendu Sharma and Southern siren Tapasee, who makes her Bollywood debut with the film. 'Chashme Buddoor' is a remake of the 1981 film of the same name. Releasing on April 5, it also features Juhi Chawla and Anupam Kher.
