~~ 'Himmatwala' my best portrayal: Tamannaah ~~

Image
Mumbai: Southern actress Tamannaah says her Bollywood debut 'Himmatwala' may be described as a remake, but it is not an exact copy of 1983 film of the same name because director Sajid Khan has altered the original script. "The film might come with the tag of a remake, but when you see the film, you will notice that Sajid has completely rewritten the script. Except for a few things that have been taken from the original, the way characters are dealt with is completely different," the 23-year-old said in an interview. K. Raghavendra directed 'Himmatwala' starred Jeetendra in the lead, while Sajid Khan has teamed up with Ajay Devgn in his version. "For instance, Ajay's character in the film is a street fighter but in the original Jeetuji's (Jeetendra) character was an engineer. So, I don't feel the sense of comparison will be as strong once the film comes out," she added. Meanwhile, Tamannaah believes her southern fans won't b...

Come 2013, she looks to start afresh her Bollywood innings with 'Himmatwala'. Here are some hot snaps of the Punjabi kudi who will be seen next in 'Himmatwala', releasing this week.

Challenging to work with superstars: Tamannaah

Image
Mumbai: South Indian actress Tamannaah Bhatia, who will be seen opposite Bollywood star Ajay Devgn in 'Himmatwala' and Akshay Kumar in a masala entertainer, finds it challenging to work with a superstar as you have to struggle to make your screen space felt in the movie. Tamannaah is making her debut in Bollywood with Sajid Khan's remake of the 1983 action movie 'Himmatwala'. "I think there are only advantages of working with a superstar... There are no disadvantages. The good point is lot of people will come and watch the film at least," Tamannaah told PTI. "There is an opportunity to show your talent and then people can have their opinion whether they liked the film or you or not," she added. On typical Bollywood masala films riding on heroes and heroines being used as an accessory, she said, "I feel for an actress commercial films are bigger challenge than a film where there is a title role for them... ~~ Won't do any film with A-certificate: Ajay ~~

Image
Bhopal: Do you wonder why Ajay Devgn has lately been doing too many light-hearted dramas? He doesn't want to associate himself with films that a family can't watch together and says it is a myth that vulgarity or skimpy clothes can make a movie work at the box office. The National Award winning actor seems to be following his resolution sincerely as in recent times he has been part of successful family entertainers such as the 'Golmaal' series, "Bol Bachchan' and 'Son of Sardaar' as well as an action-drama like 'Singham' "I have decided not to do anything that you can't watch with family. I don't want to do any film, which has A-certificate," Ajay said in a group interview here. The actor is shooting for Prakash Jha's intense social drama 'Satyagraha' in the City of Lakes. "I was recently watching a Hindi film, and my father (action director Veeru Devgan) got up and went away. Later, when I asked him, ...

~~ Sonakshi unveils "Thank God It's Friday" ~~

Sonakshi Sinha may have performed a disco song in 'Himmatwala' but in real life she does not go to clubs or disco regularly. For Sajid Khan's upcoming film 'Himmatwala', Sonakshi has performed a special song - "Thank God Its Friday", a take on the disco culture of the 80s. "In today's time we say clubs and not disco. I don't like clubbing much. I am a homely body... though I do go to clubs at times," Sonakshi told reporters at the launch of the song. In the item song, Sonakshi dons a vintage sequin golden dress with matching headgear and her looks bear similarity with Parveen Babi's look in the song - "Pyar Karne Wale" from the film 'Shaan'. Her another look in the song resembles that of Sridevi's in "Raaste Mein Woh Khada Tha" from 'Chaalbaaz' where she is dressed in tight black pants, jackets, boots and gloves. "I had seen the videos of these two songs to understand ...

Sajid Khan's films rarely get good reviews but the Bollywood film-maker doesn't mind. Khan is breaking out of his usual genre to attempt an action comedy with 'Himmatwala', his new film that opens in cinemas in March. The film, about a man's mission to avenge his father, is a different spin on a 1983 blockbuster of the same name. The 2013 version stars Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah in the lead. Khan spoke to Reuters about revisiting the 30-year-old film and why he thinks 'Himmatwala' would be one of the year's biggest hits. Q: Is your film a remake of 'Himmatwala'? A: "It's 20 percent. They are two different films. The old ‘Himmatwala' didn't have a city or a discotheque; mine does. I don't even want to call it a remake, I would call it a rewrite." Q: Why did you want to ‘rewrite' this film? A: "I hav...
