Day 1 of 2013 South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA), held in Sharjah, UAE, saw the who's who of south Indian film industry in attendance. Shriya Saran's first Kannada film 'Chandra' revolves around a last generation princess and her love story. Directed by Roopa Iyer, the film also stars Prem Kumar, Ganesh Venkatraman, Vijay Kumar, Vivek, Girish Karnad, Sukanya, Srinath and Sumithra. "Chandra is about a last generation princess. The minute I met Shriya I felt a strong bond with her since she also supports several charitable projects like me. She has worked very hard learning kalaripayattu for the film,' said director Roopa Iyer in an interview with The New Indian Express.
