~~!! Viswaroopam Telugu Movie Review, Rating -A Kamal Haasan Film !!~~

Rating : 1 2 3 4 5  2 / 5

After a gap of three years, Kamal Hassan is back with Viswaroopam, which is written, directed and produced by himself. The film was supposed to be directed by Selvaraghavan but as the director walked out of the film due to other commitments, Kamal took the responsibility of directing the film. The film is simultaneously made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. It is made with the budget of Rs 95 crore, which is the second highest budget Tamil film after Rajinikanth’s blockbuster Endhiran. What does the multilingual action-thriller has to offer? Read on for the review… The movie starts in America.

Vishwanath (Kamal Hassan) and his wife Nirupama (Pooja Kumar) gets married in an arranged marriage and fly to US. Each have an agenda and seem to have achieved their wishes in three years of matrimony. Nirupama gets her Ph.D and Vishwanath runs his dance

class in New Jersey unhindered by each other. Everything goes well till Dr. Nirupama aspires for more and wants to opt out of the arranged marriage. She cannot cite any specific reason to divorce him as there is nothing much to complain about him. Every male according to Nirupama must have a flaw. So she decides to find out something about him to feel better about her decision to part. She hires a detective to find out something about him. The detective finds that Vishwanath is actually a muslim and not Hindu. Also he finds some links with Terrorist Omar (Rahul Bose). What are those links? Is Vishwanth a terrorist? And what happens next forms the actual story.

Kamal Hassan’s performance
There will be never an iota of doubt in this department if the actor is Kamal Hassan. He is unarguably the best actor in India and had lived up to his stature. He excelled in all the three roles. He evoked good comedy as dance teacher and delivered a composed performance as Terrorist.
Kamal Hassan once again delivers a honest attempt. He seem to have did rigorous research on various terrorist activities, training camps and others. He took care of the every technical detail of the movie perfectly but faltered when it comes to the narration part. The movie at times becomes painfully slow and tests the patience of the audience. The movie has nothing to do anything of such sort. It just shows good as good and bad as bad. But the insensibility of people who dragged this issue will be the cause of huge losses to Kamal

Music:
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s music is good. At some places, they have used the music of The Dark Knight graciously. As Kamal Hassan said in one of his interviews, the movie does not need any songs. They were kept just for the sake of keeping them. All of them seem to be misfit and disturbing the flow of the movie.
Cinematography :
Sanu Varghese’s cinematography is totally of international standards. He sets a new bench mark for camera work in Industry. Particularly, the Afghanistan episodes, they appeared so real just because of his good work. The art work in the same sequences are super. Audience would barely know that they are actually shot in studios.

Highlights:
1. Kamal Hassan
2. Sanu Varghese’s Cinematography
3. Army attacks scene in Pre-interval
4. Racy Second half

Drawbacks:
1. Slow paced narration especially in the first half
2. No comedy except for first few minutes in the begining
3. All the songs and their placement

Conclusion:
Kamal Hassan almost gave out his heart and soul for the movie. He perfectly carried out all the technical aspects of the movie. But he missed the trick in execution.
