Game of Thrones, the highly-anticipated HBO fantasy saga is based on George RR Martin's best-selling book series A Song of Ice and Fire, has just kicked off its third season, much to the excitement of the show's many fans.

As fans know, it chronicles an epic struggle for power in a vast and violent kingdom. One could argue that this drama has redefined the fantasy genre as it's garnered critical acclaim and impressive ratings.

Game of Thrones also boasts a wealth of acting talent; we're showcasing just a few who (naturally) look very different from their small screen characters.

Take Emilia Clarke; the stunning brunette is best known as the platinum blonde-haired Daenerys Targaryen. The transformation is eye-popping.

She's currently wowing Broadway with her performance of Holly Golightly in a stage adaptation of Breakfast At Tiffany's.
