The 40th edition of Gem and Jewellery Awards 2013 was a grand affair and was graced by fashionista Sonam Kapoor, who also is the brand ambassador of Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).

An independent jury selected a total of 31 winners from over 270 nominations received from across India. The glittering awards ceremony was anchored by the versatile Boman Irani.

Apart from the 'Raanjhanaa' girl, also present at the inauguration and lamp lighting ceremony were Kapil Sibal, Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology & Law and Justice, Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC, and Pankaj Parekh, Vice Chairman, GJEPC among others.

The council announced nine special awards in the current year based on special classifications such as emerging performer, women entrepreneur and lifetime achievement amongst others.
